FIRST SHILOH BAPTIST CHURCH RECIPIENTS OF HOLIDAY DONATION
BUFFALO—The Buffalo & Erie County Workforce Development Consortium (WDC), the Workforce Investment Board (WIB), the Buffalo Employment & Training One-Stop Center (BETC), the Erie Community College One-Stop Center and Greater Buffalo Works held their annual WDC Holiday Party at the Pearl Street Grille on December 17, 2009. In this tough economic year, as part of the party festivities, employees of the agencies decided to hold raffles and basket auctions to raise money to be donated to a local area food pantry.
The winning food pantry was selected by a raffle winner – Joyce Faines of the Buffalo Employment & Training One-Stop Center. Her selection was the First Shiloh Baptist Church Food Pantry located at 15 Pine Street in Buffalo, NY.
“Our staff sees first hand the how the downturn in the economy has affected people and their families,” said Tim Doolittle, Administrative Director of the WDC. “The staff understands and appreciates the many needs that are out there in our community. So behalf of the WDC staff I would just like to say how happy we are to be able to help Rev. Staples and the Shiloh First Baptist Church with this donation for their food pantry”
Over $300 was donated to the food pantry. “I was flooded with a sense of prayer being answered when I learned…that our Food Pantry had been awarded a donation from your raffle. During these tough economic times, I’ve been more than a little concerned about how we were going to continue to meet the needs of so many families,” said Rev. Jonathan R. Staples of First Shiloh.
