The Buffalo Employment and Training Center strives to make its facility and services available to all individuals. As a part of the effort, we have worked with the New York State Department of Labor and the Center for Assistive Technology at the University at Buffalo to secure equipment, software, and materials to service individuals with handicapped conditions. The facility at 77 Goodell Street provides the following:

-- Wheelchair accessible computers and workstation
-- Ramp for wheelchairs to access the BETC
-- Trained staff members who can assist customers in using the computer equipment and software.
-- Computer equipment for customers with disabilities:
  • Large monitor (19)
  • Speech recognition software that reads aloud, providing customers the technology to access a wide variety of education and job related software applications
  • Magnification capability of text and application software for customers that are visually impaired
  • Document scanning capability for reading job postings and other documents that are in paper format
  • Mini keyboard and extra-large labels on standard keyboard for disabled and customers that are visually impaired
  • Headphones
  • Trackball mouse for improved control in the Windows environment
  • KeyGaurd for the keyboard
